The ASTM A 1023 classification 8x19 rotation-resistant--category 3 is a high-quality steel wire rope. It features a construction with 8 strands, and each strand contains 15 to 26 wires, with 7 to 12 outer wires per strand and 2 to 3 layers of wire. The rope typically has 120 to 232 wires excluding the steel core.

There are several typical rope and strand configurations available, such as 8X19S (with a 1 - 9 - 9 strand), 8X21F (1 - 5 - 5F - 10), and 8X26WS (1 - 5-(5 + 5)-10). It comes in a range of nominal diameters from 1/4 inch (6.3 mm) to 1 - 1/2 inches (38.1 mm).

The approximate nominal length mass varies accordingly, and it has specified minimum breaking forces in different grades like IPS, EIP, and EEIP. It's important to note that the minimum breaking force for final-galvanized rope is 10% lower than the listed values. This rotation-resistant rope is suitable for applications where resistance to twisting and high strength are required.
