Grade 80 Alloy Steel Single Forged Open Hook Leg Chain Sling (SOF)

This Grade 80 Alloy Steel Single Forged Open Hook Leg Chain Sling (SOF) is assembled from heat-treated alloy steel chain and a forged Grade 80 open foundry hook, providing a reliable and cost-effective solution for single-point vertical and angled lifting in industrial, construction, and manufacturing environments.

The single-leg design directs the entire load through one chain strand, making it ideal for symmetrical loads with a single lifting point such as engines, compressors, machinery blocks, and structural steel members. The forged open hook at the lower end allows fast and easy load attachment without requiring a safety latch — suitable for controlled rigging environments where the hook angle prevents accidental disengagement.

The Grade 80 alloy steel chain is proof-tested at twice the Working Load Limit and meets EN 818-2 and ASME B30.9 overhead lifting standards. Available in chain diameters from 7 mm (1/4") to 22 mm (7/8"), with Working Load Limits ranging from 1.12 to 16.3 tonnes at 0° vertical, and from 0.97 to 14.1 tonnes at 45° angle. The upper end is fitted with a standard oval master link compatible with crane hooks, hoists, and trolley systems.

All components — chain, master link, and hook — are individually proof-tested and traceable. The sling is supplied with a load-rated identification tag showing WLL, chain grade, reach, and batch number for compliance with EN 818-4 and OSHA rigging documentation requirements.
