ASTM A 1023 Wire Rope
ASTM A1023 6X7 Steel Core High Strength Abrasion Resistant Wire Rope
ASTM A 1023 classification 6x7 fiber core is a type of steel wire rope with distinct construction features. The rope consists of 6 strands, and each strand contains 5 to 9 wires. There are 6 outer strands, with 4 to 8 outer wires in each. The overall number of wires in the rope (excluding the steel core) ranges from 30 to 54.
In terms of physical properties, it comes in various nominal diameters. For example, the diameter can range from as small as 6mm (approx. 1/4 in.) to as large as 36mm (approx. 1 - 1/2 in.). Along with different diameters, it has corresponding approximate nominal length masses, with values starting from 0.124 kg/m for a 6mm diameter rope and going up to 5.008 kg/m for a 36mm diameter one.
The minimum breaking force also varies depending on the diameter and the grade. For instance, at a 6mm diameter with a 1770 IPS grade, the minimum breaking force is 21.2 KN. It's important to note that for final-galvanized ropes, the minimum breaking force is 10% lower than the listed values. This steel wire rope is suitable for applications where reliable strength and durability are required.
