05 / Wire Rope for Air Film

The flexible air-supported membrane material is secured into its designed form through a pre-set steel wire mesh grid, preventing excessive expansion or deformation due to pressure fluctuations. It directly bears external loads, including wind loads, snow loads, and self-weight loads, distributing forces uniformly to the foundation or anchoring devices to avoid localised structural failure.
As a critical load-bearing component, its high strength and fatigue resistance provide structural integrity for air-supported structures, mitigating collapse risks even under extreme weather conditions.

High strength: Must possess high tensile strength and breaking load to ensure it can withstand tension and external loads under large spans.

Steel wire ropes require treatments such as galvanisation or plastic coating to resist corrosion from rainwater, dust, and chemical substances.

Minimal elongation is required to prevent structural deformation of the air-supported membrane, thereby safeguarding architectural integrity and operational safety.

Sufficient pliability facilitates installation across curved surfaces while minimising bending damage during deployment.
